Browlift Manhattan New York
Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Michael Wolfeld helps patients discover a more attractive brow that sets the tone for their entire face. Brows frame the eyes and call attention to important facial features. They react with facial expressions and communicate emotions like surprise, joy and worry. Over the years, the face begins to show wear and tear from those millions of daily expressions. Falling eyebrows can contribute to an unintended sad or tired appearance or a stern, unapproachable appearance. Frown lines and furrows, sagging eyebrows, and "hooding" of the lids are some of the inevitable results of aging. Lifts can help to minimize these problems by tightening the skin and underlying muscles. Dr. Wolfeld’s brow lift cosmetic procedure smoothes eye and forehead wrinkling, lifts sagging or tired brows, and creates a younger, energetic and more carefree appearance.
A brow lift, or forehead lift, can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with deep sedation, or general anesthesia, and may take 1 to 2 hours. With the classical or "open" method the incision is hidden just inside or by the hairline across the scalp and between the ears. Dr. Wolfeld can lessen the appearance of wrinkles by tightening selected muscles and releasing tissues, which cause wrinkles. The eyebrows will also be elevated, and excess skin at the incision will be removed to allow a gentle re-draping of your forehead skin.
Dr. Wolfeld more commonly performs an endoscopic or minimal-scar brow lift using a tiny fiber optic lens inserted through half-inch incisions placed in the hairline. The lens is attached to a camera, which is connected to a television, allowing for visualization of the surgery. Additional half-inch incisions are made for the insertion of tiny scalpels, scissors and retractors. Dr. Wolfeld performs the procedure while viewing the television monitor and manipulating the tiny instruments externally. With this technique, muscle attachments are released and specific muscle groups are weakened to achieve the desired appearance and reduce wrinkling. With an endoscopic brow lift, loss of sensation or loss of hair at the incision site is minimized and there is an accelerated healing process.
Most patients are back to work in a week to 10 days. Endoscopic patients may feel ready to return even sooner. Vigorous physical activity should be limited for several weeks, including jogging, bending, heavy housework, sex, or any activity that increases your blood pressure. Most of the visible signs of surgery should fade completely within about three weeks. Minor swelling and bruising can be concealed with special camouflage makeup. You may feel a bit tired and let down at first, but your energy level will increase as you begin to look and feel better.
Most patients are pleased with the results of a forehead lift, no matter which surgical method was used. Often, patients don't realize how much their sagging forehead contributed to the signs of aging until they see how much younger and more rested they appear after the lift. Although a forehead lift does not stop the clock, it can minimize the appearance of aging for years.
